Louis Armstrong was a magical performer. His trumpet became his way out of poverty and his gateway to recognition and worldwide fame.
I loved Louis Armstrong. He had a unique voice and he retained his “downhome” way of speaking, which I loved. His trumpet playing was distinctive. Through the use of his voice and trumpet, he calmed the heart and brought into light those things that were shrouded in darkness. I love his recording of “Black and Blue.”
