IN ORDER TO MOVE FORWARD, WE HAVE TO GO BACk

There are countless insights and understandings shared during this is video entitled, “Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Alfonso Cuarón in Three Amigos in Conversation.”  I was touched by the thought that sometimes as creative artist, “That in order to move forward, we have to go back.”  There are so many discoveries to be made in the course of creating.  Because humans have memories, we are always going back in our minds to access past information and experience. However, as creatives that going back can be fuel to power the creative process we are currently in.


Also the idea that “the stadium of life you can see clear, evolve a much more broader, in order to talk about love, to talk about time, to talk about art and fatherhood and a loss. So all those things suddenly come out in a much more pristine and powerful way…”  For me, the thought of looking at life as a broad expansive experience, can give an artist the ability to reach into certain periods of one’s life for a specific kind of inspiration or insight..
