This interview with Paul Newman offered me insights into how he perceived himself as an actor and in some ways what a challenge his creative process was. When Mr. Newman states that “intuitive actors and have the talent to slip in and out of characters. Acting to me is like dredging a river is a painful experience. i simply do not have the intuitive talent. I worry about acting and constantly complaining to myself about my own performance…” His sharing gave me greater appreciation for his talent and his body of work. Self reflection, I believe, is such a important and essential aspect of the work of the actor.
part of the acting process.
